Come & See

Three simple words, “come and see,” absolutely turned people’s lives on their heads! What if Jesus wants to turn your life on its head too? What if Jesus is inviting you to come and see what God created you for and how you can live life as your truest self, the wo/man God intends you to be? In this Fall series, we’re digging into the three occasions in the gospel of John when people were invited to “come and see.” On each occasion, the people responded by taking steps closer to Jesus and in so doing, they discovered newfound purpose and meaning in life.

Deep Roots

In the 1980’s, the Hardy Boys Choose Your Own Adventure detective book series became a huge cultural hit. The author gave the reader multiple options at various points in the unfolding drama. At these decision points, the reader could take the story in a radically new direction, forcing the young detectives to make decisions inconsistent with their training and experience. Over the last 2000 years, some have claimed that this is essentially what happened with Jesus and the story of God, disconnecting Jesus from his ancestral roots and turning Jesus into a god or man of their own making. In this summer series, we’re taking a closer look at some of the key events and stories that plant Jesus firmly in his ancestral roots. And, we’ll be discovering how we can also live lives rooted in the same unfolding drama.

Joining God in His Renewal This Summer

Join us this Sunday as we explore God's heart for people who aren't yet connected to him or his church. Together, we'll discover how we can follow Jesus' example by pushing past the fears, barriers, and social pressures that often keep us silent.

Ancient Influencers

Much of what we read of the famous women in the bible sounds very out of sync with today’s cultural norms and expectations. So much so that it would be easy to dismiss them altogether. Yet, relative to their surrounding societies, the influential women of the bible received greater honor, respect and recognition than their irreligious or differently religious peers. In honor of Mother’s day, we’re taking three weeks to look at the lives of a few influential women in the scriptures, hoping to put them back into their proper place… as role models and sisters who inspire us to seek after God with all our hearts.

Making Room

Life is full of choices. Consider the apostle Paul on his road to Damascus experience when Jesus asked him, “Why are you persecuting me?” He chose to take a very different path in life from that moment forward, a life of trusting Jesus and living out his days proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Have you ever considered that he could have made some very different choices? He could have told Jesus he was too busy or too stressed to even consider that option in the moment. He could have recognized that wealth generation was much more likely on his old path and told Jesus to find someone else. There were many options available to Paul on that road to Damascus, yet he chose Jesus. We live in an age when all of us have numerous options and choices every day leading in all different directions. How can we arrange our lives in such a way that we’re always ready to say “yes” when God calls us? Join us this month as we look at making room in our lives for the invitations of God.

Habits for Life are practices we can engage in collectively, and encourage one another in, that intentionally form us to be the men & women we hope to be.
