Weekly Happenings

1/11-2/1 Emotionally Healthy Spirituality
As we go through our lives with God, emotional unhealth can hold us back from growing into the person God made us to be. This can look like:

  • Feeling exhausted by doing things for God while rarely slowing down to be with God

  • Living vicariously off of other people’s spirituality

  • Ignoring “negative” emotions like anger, sadness, and fear

  • Denying healthy, God-given desires and pleasures

  • Missing out on God’s peace by burying tensions and avoiding conflict

  • Feeling stuck and unable to move forward in your walk with God

  • …and much more.

The Emotionally Healthy Spirituality course is an opportunity to grow in emotional health in your relationships with God and people. The four-week course will meet on Sunday evenings, January 11-February 1, 6:30-8:30pm.

12/21 Game Group
Vineyard’s next game group will be at the Pedersens’ home (1648 Cool Spring Rd) this Sunday, December 21st, 2:00-4:00 pm. All are welcome! For more details, contact Bryan or Tosya.

Christmas at Vineyard
12/24 Christmas Eve Service

Vineyard’s Christmas Eve service will be at Tall Oaks Elementary School from 3-4pm. Prepare for Christmas with an intimate time of worship, singing of Christmas hymns, and reflection on the meaning of Christmas.

12/28 Virtual Service
On December 28th, we’ll have a brief online worship service in place of our normal Sunday morning gathering. This will be an opportunity for contemplation, reflection, and connecting with God in the midst of the post-Christmas season.

A-Just Christmas
Time is running out to double your generosity!

Our annual A-Just Christmas campaign is about to end (December 21). Your church is matching your year-end generosity (up to $2,000) during this Christmas season. Give this weekend if you would like to double your generosity.

Donate by Dec 21

The organizations:

  • Abundant Life demonstrates God’s love through holistic community development in the Prospect neighborhood primarily through mentoring and tutoring.

  • IMPACT is a grassroots organization bringing a diverse group of congregations together to live out their religious traditions' call for justice in greater Charlottesville, achieving solutions to serious community problems through direct action.

  • PACEM is a grassroots organization that coordinates space and volunteers to provide shelter for individuals in our community who are homeless.

  • Convoy of Hope is a faith-based organization with a driving passion to feed the world through children’s feeding initiatives, community outreach, and disaster response.

12/22 Ragged Mountain Running Fundraiser for IMPACT

On Monday, December 22nd, Ragged Mountain Running Shop will be donating 10% of purchases directly to IMPACT. In addition to donating through A-Just Christmas, consider shopping at Ragged Mountain Running that day as another way to support the work of IMPACT!

Survey: Inviting People to Vineyard
We're hoping to get a strong sense of what our church family's barriers are to inviting unchurched people to Vineyard. We shared a survey during the service this past Sunday - if you missed it, please take the survey here!
